Check back frequently for updates and newly posted scholarships.

Never pay for applying for a scholarship or pay an entry fee to a scholarship contest.  Listed below are only SOME of the many scholarships available to you.  At the bottom of this page are search engines you may use to find more scholarships.

STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES: This website has over 30 scholarships for Student with Disabilities.  Deadlines are fast approaching for many of them.  Please visit Scholarships for Student with Disabilities for more information and the list of scholarships available.

Scholarship Search Suggestions:

  • Start Early! You should start looking for scholarships 12-18 months before your start of college.
  • Do not ignore small scholarships. Four scholarships for $250 are just as good as one for $1,000.
  • Apply every year. This is an annual process, not just an incoming college freshman process. You may become eligible for scholarships as you move through college that you were not eligible for as a first-year student.
  • Look locally. Many local community organizations, churches, and business groups award scholarships to students from their city or county.
  • Be methodical. Set aside a few hours each week to search for scholarships and to submit applications.
  • Be strategic. Apply for scholarships that relate to your Major or high school interests and activities. Avoid scholarships where you do not meet the criteria.

Local Community Scholarships:

Seniors need to come into the RHS College and Career Center during the month of March to pick up the scholarship applications for the local community scholarships that are available.  

Rim High School Senior Scholarship Awards Night - May 23, 2023 beginning at 6pm in the RHS PAC.

Taco Bell Live Mas Scholarship:  This scholarship is for the innovators, creators, and dreamers who want to share his/her passion and receive support to pursue this passion through a higher educational outlet. This is not needs or obstacle based; it is a passion-based scholarship program.  Sign up to receive a reminder when the 2023 application opens.

AXA Achievement Scholarship:  Be a high school senior applying to college for the fall 2025 semester, who must demonstrate ambition and self-drive as evidenced by outstanding achievement in school, community, or work-related activities.  Announced in September.

UC Berkeley: The Achievement Award Program: 

MONTHLY SCHOLARSHIPS: These scholarships may be applied every month and are awarded monthly:

Varsity Tutors Scholarship Contest:  Varsity Tutors hold a monthly $1,000 college scholarship contest where students must write an essay in response to a monthly prompt. Visitors to the Varsity Tutors webpage can vote via social media for submitted entries. The top 5 entries with the most votes are reviewed by Varsity Tutors at the end of the month, and one winner is subsequently chosen to receive the $1,000 scholarship.

"No Essay" Scholarship: Open to all high school, college, and graduate students and those planning to enroll within 12 months.  You must be either: (1) at least eighteen (18) years of age or older (except in the case of legal residents of certain states or commonwealths where the legal age of majority is higher than eighteen (18) years of age, then such legal age of majority) at the time of entry; or (2) at least thirteen (13) years of age at the time of entry and have a parent’s or legal guardian’s consent and supervision to use Niche.com and enter this Sweepstakes.

Sallie Mae College Answer.com:  Register online for monthly $1000 drawing and scholarship search. Parents can register for a yearly $10,000 scholarship.

Horatio Alger Association Career & Technical Scholarship:  Scholarships are awarded to students who have faced and overcome great obstacles in their lives who wish to pursue a career or technical education at an accredited non-profit post-secondary institution in the United States.  The CTE application will remain open on a rolling basis until all scholarships are awarded.

AUGUST DEADLINES

  • Make Me Laugh Scholarship: Be thirteen (13) years of age or older at the time of application and be currently enrolled (or enroll no later than the fall of 2025) in an accredited post-secondary institution of higher education. Submit an online short written response (250 words or less) for the topic: OMG... finding and applying for scholarships is a serious business, but it's time to lighten things up a little. We don't want to know why you deserve $1,000 or how excellent your grades are; we simply want to LOL. Describe an incident in your life, funny or embarrassing (fact or fiction), and make us laugh!  

SEPTEMBER DEADLINES

  • National Center for Women in Technology Scholarship:  The NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing (AiC) honors women in grades 9 through 12 who are active and interested in computing and technology, and encourages them to pursue their passions. Award for AiC recipients is chosen for their demonstrated interest and achievements in computing, proven leadership ability, academic performance, and plans for post‑secondary education. 9th-12th-grade girls with a 3.0 or better GPA are eligible.  
  • The Gates Scholarship:  The Gates Scholarship is a highly selective, last-dollar scholarship for exceptional, Pell-eligible, minority, high school seniors.  
  • Golden Door Scholars:  Scholarship for DACA students.  The application opens now.  The deadline is TBA.
  • Don't Text and Drive Scholarship:  Open to any 9-12 high school students.  The purpose of this scholarship is to help you understand the risks of texting while driving. It's everyone's responsibility to use technology in a way that doesn't harm others and to be aware of the impact that technology has on our health, environment, and society at large.  
  • Get Up! Get Active!:  This scholarship is designed to encourage students to increase their financial literacy skills and adopt positive habits for managing their personal finances both in college and beyond — 
  • Shout It Out Scholarship: Be thirteen (13) years of age or older at the time of application and be currently enrolled (or enroll no later than the fall of 2025) in an accredited post-secondary institution of higher education.  Submit an online short written response (250 words or less) for the topic: “If you could say one thing to the entire world at once, what would it be and why?”  

OCTOBER DEADLINES

  • STEM Edison Scholars: Become an Edison Scholar. Edison International is awarding $40,000 college scholarships to 30 high school seniors to help them follow their dreams in science, technology, engineering or math (STEM) and empower them to change the world. Minimum GPA of 3.0 and plan to attend a four-year college or university. 
  • Epic Flight Academy Scholarship:  Private Pilot Scholarship is $20,00.00.  Flight Training Scholarship is $5,000.00 Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.  Must currently be a junior or senior attending high school in the U.S.  Must be turning 16 years of age or older on or before December 31, 2021.  Must be able to start training within 12 months of receiving the scholarship.  Must be able to utilize the scholarship within 24 months.  Must have parent or guardian’s approval if under 18 years of age.  Must have consistent, reliable transportation to attend Epic Flight Academy or be willing to relocate here during training.  Must be able to present a Third Class Medical. 
  • AES Engineering Scholarship:  Seniors and students attending a post-secondary educational facility. You are not required to take Engineering courses.  The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of character, as determined by an evaluation of the essays that are submitted.  Scholarships are intended for future leaders across a broad spectrum of fields of study.  
  • National Space Club and Foundation Olin E. Teague Scholarship:  The applicant must be a senior year in an accredited U.S. high school with the intent of attending an accredited U.S. college or university in the Fall of 2022. The applicant must plan to pursue undergraduate or graduate studies in an aerospace field.  
  • Branson Shows Inspired Scholarship:  Essay-style scholarship designed to assist in furthering education for young people. The applicant must be a legal resident of the United States between the ages of 16 and 19.  
  • College Jumpstart Scholarship: Open to 10th-12th graders, college students, and non-traditional students, the main requirement is that you are committed to going to school and can express your goals for getting a higher education. The College JumpStart Scholarship is an annual, merit-based competition -- financial need is not considered. The deadline is October 17, 2021.
  • Horatio Alger Association State Scholarships:  The Horatio Alger Association seeks students who have exhibited determination, integrity, and perseverance in overcoming adversity, as well as have critical financial need.  
  • Horatio Alger Association National Scholarship:  The Horatio Alger Association seeks students who have exhibited determination, integrity, and perseverance in overcoming adversity, as well as have critical financial need.  
  • Horatio Alger Association Targeted Scholarships:  The Association offers several scholarship programs that either requires an applicant to pursue a specific degree or attend a particular university. Go to this website to view all the colleges and programs associated with these scholarships.  Some of the colleges include Biose State University, Arizona State University, Idaho State University, UC San Diego, and many more.  Some applications open August 1 and the deadline is October 25.
  • Coca Cola Scholarship:  The Coca-Cola Scholars Program scholarship is an achievement-based scholarship awarded to graduating high school seniors. Application opens August 1, 2021. The deadline is TBD.  
  • Unigo Zombie Apocalypse Scholarship:  All students, regardless of academic merit or financial need, are encouraged to apply. 

NOVEMBER DEADLINES

  • SME Education Foundation:  Scholarships are awarded annually so that students can re-apply every year. Scholarships range from $1000- $6000 and can be used for tuition, books or lab/course fees related to attaining a technical or engineering education. Eligible students include high school seniors pursuing degrees in advanced manufacturing and related fields at two- and four-year colleges.  The application opens November 1 and ending February 1.
  • TheDream.US Scholarship:  Scholarship opportunity for DREAMers.  The application opens on November 1st. 
  • Ron Brown Scholarship:  African-American high school seniors who will make significant contributions to society. Applicants must excel academically, exhibit exceptional leadership potential, participate in community service activities, and demonstrate financial need. 
  • The Elks National Foundation:  The Elks National Foundation Scholarship Program offers a couple of scholarships:
  • Prudential Spirit of Community Award:   ARE YOU A MIDDLE LEVEL OR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT WHO’S MAKING A DIFFERENCE THROUGH VOLUNTEERING? Complete the application and the student/parent agreement.  Please see the website for details on how to apply. Please note that the application must be certified by your principal, or a local chapter head of the Girl Scouts of America, YMCA, American Red Cross, or an Affiliate of Points of Light's HandsOn Network.  The deadline is TBD.
  • Hispanic Heritage Youth Awards:  Applicants must be high school seniors graduating in 20, minimum. 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale and be of Hispanic heritage. (includes Spain, Brazil, Philipines) Students must show academic excellence, dedication to community service, and demonstration of leadership in one's community.  
  • The James Alan Cox Scholarship for Student Photojournalists:  Applicant must be a high school (sophomore or older with one semester remaining), college, or graduate school student. High school applicants must be enrolled in a minimum of one photography or related art class. 
  • Education Matters Scholarship:  Be thirteen (13) years of age or older at the time of application, be legal residents of the fifty (50) United States or the District of Columbia, and be currently enrolled (or enroll no later than the fall of 2025) in an accredited post-secondary institution of higher education.  Submit an online response to the questions, "What would you say to someone who thinks education doesn't matter, or that college is a waste of time and money?" (250 words or less). 

DECEMBER DEADLINES

  • Dell Scholars Scholarship: 
  • Smittcamp Family Honors College at CSU, Fresno Presidential Scholarship:  High school seniors with minimum 3.8 high school GPA, ranking in the top 10 percent of your high school graduating class, and combined SAT score of 1200 or ACT average score of 27.  Students intending to attend CSU, Fresno.  
  • Barbara Lotze Scholarships for Future Physics Teachers:  Scholarships for future high school physics teachers.  High school seniors entering such programs are eligible.  The scholarship may be granted to an individual for each of four years.  Deadline, December 1.
  • National Space Club and Foundation Keynote Scholar Application:  The applicant must be a U.S. citizen.  The scholarship is open to seniors in high school.  The applicant must have the intention of pursuing a career in the STEM fields and plan to attend an accredited U.S. college or university to follow a course of study to pursue a career in the STEM field, with a preference for those with space-related interests.  The applicant can only use the $10,000.00 scholarship towards tuition for the 2019/20 academic year.  The applicant must not have previously spoken at the Dr. Robert H. Goddard Memorial Dinner.  The applicant may apply for any of the scholarships offered by the National Space Club and Foundation (Robert H. Goddard Memorial Scholarship, Olin E Teague Scholarship, Keynote Scholarship) in the same year, but may only win once in the same year. 
  • Scholarships for Military Children:  Only dependent unmarried children under age 23 of active U.S. military duty personnel, reserve/guard and retired military members, or survivors of U.S. service members who died while on active duty (also see Heroes' Legacy Scholarship) or survivors of individuals who died while receiving retired pay from the military, may apply for a scholarship.  Applicants must be enrolled or planning to enroll, in a full-time undergraduate program of study leading to a bachelor's degree at an accredited U.S. college or university in the fall term of 2020. High school applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 basis). 
  • Unigo $10K Scholarship: Be thirteen (13) years of age or older at the time of application and be currently enrolled (or enroll no later than the fall of 2022) in an accredited post-secondary institution of higher education.  Submit an online written response to the question: "Imagine a historical figure is brought back to life. Who is it? What's their favorite mobile app?" (250 words or less). 
  • Gen And Ken Tanabe Scholarship: 9th-12th-grade high school, college, or graduate student, including adult students. A legal resident of the U.S.  Currently in school or planning to start school within the next 12 months.  The deadline is TBA.
  • 10 Things You Love About You:  Be thirteen (13) years of age or older at the time of application, be legal residents of the fifty (50) United States or the District of Columbia, and be currently enrolled (or enroll no later than the fall of 2025) in an accredited post-secondary institution of higher education. Inspired by David Letterman and his top ten lists, we created the Top Ten List Scholarship.  Submit an essay "Create a Top Ten List of the top ten reasons you should get this scholarship." (250 words or less).  
  • The Andrew Flusche Scholarship Contest:  Requires students to raise awareness about different legal issues. Applicants must create a public service advertisement video (PSA) about avoiding distracted driving (e.g., cell phones, passengers, radio, etc.).but may only win once in the same year. High school seniors who have been accepted into a college, university, or trade school.  

JANUARY DEADLINES

  • Ron Brown Scholarship:  African-American high school seniors who will make significant contributions to society. Applicants must excel academically, exhibit exceptional leadership potential, participate in community service activities, and demonstrate financial need.  
  • John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Essay Contest:  The contest is open to United States high school students in grades nine through twelve attending public, private, parochial, or home schools.  
  • U.S. Junior Chamber International (JCI) Senate Foundation:  Graduating high school seniors who plan to continue their education at accredited post-secondary colleges, universities or vocational schools.  The deadline is TBD.
  • APIASF Scholarship:  Scholarship opportunities for Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander students enrolling in college Fall 2020.  Application opens TBD, and the deadline is TBD.
  • Carson Scholarship:  This scholarship aims to recognize and reward students in grades 4 – 11 who earn the highest level of academic achievement (3.75 unweighted GPA or higher) and also display strong humanitarian qualities. One student may be nominated by Principal; All requests must come from educators or school administrators. Requests cannot be made for individual students, nor can applications be sent to students’ homes or personal emails. Please communicate your interest in having your school participate in the program by contacting an educator, guidance counselor, or administrator at your school. The application request opens October.  The deadline is January.
  • Washington Crossing Foundation Scholarship:  Seniors who are U. S. citizens and are planning careers of service to the United States in local, state, or federal government.  Write a one-page essay stating why you plan a career in government service, a recommendation from Principal or Counselor, and transcript required. 
  • The Coolidge-Full Ride Presidential Scholarship:  High School Junior Academic Excellence, Humility and Service, Interest in Public Policy and Coolidge Values.  Application opens in October and the deadline is February.
  • I Have a Dream Scholarship:  Ages 13+ and be currently enrolled (or enroll no later than the fall of 2026) in an accredited post-secondary institution of higher education.  Submit an online short written response (250 words or less) for the topic: “We want to know...what do you dream about? Whether it's some bizarre dream, you had last week, or your hopes for the future, share your dreams with us for a chance to win $1,500 for college.”  
  • Union Plus Scholarship:  Current and retired members of participating unions, their spouses and their dependent children (as defined by IRS regulations). 

FEBRUARY DEADLINES

  • California State PTA Graduating High School Senior Scholarships:  There are two scholarships: 1) the $750 "Volunteer Service Scholarship," recognizing graduating seniors for their volunteer service in schools and communities, allowing them to register for courses at accredited colleges, universities, trade or technical schools. Applicants must be PTA members graduating from a California high school between January 1 and June 30 of the current academic year, and 2) the $500 "Dr. Ralph E. White Graduating Senior Scholarship," honoring the volunteer and public-service legacy of Dr. Ralph E. White and his wife, Eleanor, this additional scholarship provides $500 each to two successful applicants of the Volunteer Service Scholarship who intend to pursue a career in a medical field.  Seniors must be a PTA member.  Applications, reference forms, and all supporting documents must be received in the California State PTA office by February 1.
  • California State University, Fullerton President's Scholars Program:  Students must have already applied to CSUF, have a 3.75 weighted high school GPA and have contributions to the school and community. The President's Scholars Application is part of the "Honors & Scholars Program Online Application." There are several programs that use this application, click on the names of them to learn more about these programs. Make sure you follow the directions below to ensure you are applying for the programs you are interested in.  The President’s Scholars Deadline is February, 22nd. The other programs will have rolling deadlines starting with March 2nd.
  • Sweet and Simple Scholarship: Be thirteen (13) years of age or older at the time of application, be legal residents of the fifty (50) United States or the District of Columbia, and be currently enrolled (or enroll no later than the fall of 2026) in an accredited post-secondary institution of higher education.  Submit an online written response to the question, "Not every gift has to be expensive or extravagant. Sometimes it's the sweet and simple things that make a real difference in our lives. Think back and tell us about something you received as a gift and why it meant so much to you." (250 words or less).  
  • Life Lessons Scholarship:  Seniors who have been accepted to, or are currently enrolled in, a college, university, or trade school, and have suffered the loss of a parent or legal guardian can submit an essay or video about how the death of a parent or guardian impacted their lives.   
  • American Meteorological Society (AMS) Freshmen Undergraduate Scholarships:  Open to all senior high school students and designed to encourage study in the atmospheric and related sciences. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or hold permanent resident status.  Applicants must be entering their freshman year of college in the fall of 2020 as a full-time student and plan to pursue a degree in the atmospheric or related oceanic or hydrologic sciences. Marine biology does not meet this requirement.  Applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.  Check back for when the application is opened and for application deadline - which is TBD.  
  • American Meteorological Society (AMS) Minority Scholarships:  The AMS Minority Scholarships will award funding to minority students who have been traditionally underrepresented in the sciences, primarily Hispanic, Native American, and Black/African American students.  Minority students who will be entering their freshman year of college in the fall of 2020 are eligible to apply.  Students must plan to pursue careers in the atmospheric or related oceanic and hydrologic sciences. Marine Biology is not eligible.  Applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.  Check back for when the application is opened and for application deadline - which is in February. 
  • https://www.hsf.net/ The HSF (Hispanic Scholarship Fund) Scholarship is designed to assist students of Hispanic heritage to obtain a university degree. Scholarships are available, on a competitive basis to High School seniors.  Awards are based on merit; amounts range from $500 to $5,000 based on relative need, among the Scholars selected. Must be of Hispanic heritage, minimum of 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale for high school students, plan to enroll full-time in an accredited, not-to-profit, four-year university, US Citizen, permanent legal resident, DACA or eligible Non-Citizen and complete FAFSA. 

MARCH DEADLINES

  • BeautySchoolsDirectory.com awards twice a year $2,500 to a student pursuing a career in cosmetology, esthetics, barbering, and a number of other specializations within the beauty and wellness industry.   • Create a Greeting Card Scholarship:  Would you like your artwork featured by the leading publisher of premium quality cards in the United States? Here's your chance! We formally invite you to enter our 12th Annual Create-A-Greeting Card $10,000 contest. Design a greeting card for the opportunity to win yourself a $10,000 scholarship and $1,000 for your school. Plus, your winning entry will be made into a bona fide greeting card by The Gallery Collection.  This contest is open to all high school, college, and university students enrolled during the period of the contest in an academic program designed to conclude with the awarding of a diploma or a degree. Applicants must be 14 years of age or older at the time of entry unless prohibited by law.

  • Print and Graphics Scholarship Foundation:  Seniors and full-time college students pursuing a career in graphic communications, printing technology, printing management, or publishing. Restricted to colleges, universities and Tech Schools w/ established 2 & 4 yr programs leading to an associate or bachelor's recognized by the graphic communications industries.  The application period opens on November 1 each year and closes on May 1.
  • Super Power Scholarship:  Be thirteen (13) years of age or older at the time of application, be legal residents of the fifty (50) United States or the District of Columbia, and be currently enrolled (or enroll no later than the fall of 2026) in an accredited post-secondary institution of higher education.  Submit an online written response to the questions, "Which superhero or villain would you want to change places with for a day and why?" (250 words or less).  
  • Odenza Marketing Group Scholarship:  

APRIL DEADLINES

  • Ann Ford & Allegra Ford Scholarships: Be a graduating high school senior who will be attending a four-year bachelor’s degree program in the fall.  Have an overall grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher on a 4-point scale (or equivalent).  Provide most current documentation of an identified learning disability and/or ADHD (e.g., psycho-educational report, neuropsychological evaluation, IEP or 504 plan) and has utilized services, supports, and/or accommodations.  Please note: LD and ADHD can co-occur with other issues such as speech/language, hearing and vision, and autism spectrum disorders; to be eligible candidates must provide documentation of a specific LD and/or ADHD. Deadline is April TBD.
  • All About Education Scholarship:  Be thirteen (13) years of age or older at the time of application, be legal residents of the fifty (50) United States or the District of Columbia, and be currently enrolled (or enroll no later than the fall of 2026) in an accredited post-secondary institution of higher education.  Submit an online written response to the question, "How will a $3,000 scholarship for education make a difference in your life?" (250 words or less).  
  • 2020 Steps For Change Scholarship: The Wealth By Health Steps For Change Foundation awards three exceptional individuals from low-income families each year with achievement-based scholarships to pursue higher education and encourage community leadership. The application deadline is TBD. Award is $2,000.

MAY DEADLINES

  • American College Foundation - Visionary Scholarship: All high school students (grades 9-12) are eligible to apply. Multiple awards ranging from $1000 to $5000.  Deadline, TBD.  
  • Fifth Month Scholarship:  Be thirteen (13) years of age or older at the time of application, be legal residents of the fifty (50) United States or the District of Columbia, and be currently enrolled (or enroll no later than the fall of 2026) in an accredited post-secondary institution of higher education.  Submit an online written response to the question, "May is the fifth month of the year. Write a letter to number five, explaining why five is important. Be serious or be funny. Either way, here's a high five to you for being original." (250 words or less).

JUNE DEADLINES

  • Do-Over Scholarship:  Be thirteen (13) years of age or older at the time of application, be legal residents of the fifty (50) United States or the District of Columbia, and be currently enrolled (or enroll no later than the fall of 2026) in an accredited post-secondary institution of higher education.  Submit an online written response to the question:  "If you could get one 'do-over' in life, what would it be and why?" (250 words or less). 

JULY DEADLINES

  • Flavor of the Month Scholarship:  Be thirteen (13) years of age or older at the time of application, be legal residents of the fifty (50) United States or the District of Columbia, and be currently enrolled (or enroll no later than the fall of 2026) in an accredited post-secondary institution of higher education.  Submit an online written response to the question: "Summer and ice cream go hand-in-hand. July is National Ice Cream Month, and that's the inspiration behind this award. We think people are very similar to ice cream; some are nutty, others a little exotic, while some are very comforting. If you were an ice cream flavor, which would you be and why?" (250 words or less).  
  • Courage to Grow Scholarship: High school Jr. or Sr. or college student, 2.5 GPA, U.S. citizen. Write a statement of 250 words or less on why you believe that you should be awarded this scholarship. Spelling, punctuation, and grammar are essential.  The deadline is TBD. 
  • You Deserve It Scholarship: Applications received after the deadline date will be considered during the next month's drawing. In addition to receiving a $1,000 scholarship award, selected recipients will also receive a free month of subscription to ScholarshipOwl services. 
  •  "No Essay" College Scholarship: The $2,000 “No Essay” Scholarship is an accessible scholarship with no essay required! The scholarship can be used to cover tuition, housing, books, or any education-related expenses. The monthly winner will be determined by random drawing and then contacted directly and announced in Niche's e-newsletter and on the Scholarship Winners page. You can apply once each month, with a new winner selected every month.
