Wednesday's Around the Rim: Excellence in Action
Dear Students, Families, and Staff,
A lot is happening around the Rim as we head into Friday and Saturday, so let's mark those calendars.
1) Friday, September 25th brings plenty of fun! LAE families can kick up their boots at the Hoedown Dance (Please RSVP for the Hoedown using the link below in the flyer), while VOE families can grab a cozy spot for Movie Night.
Over at RHS, our Girls Tennis team takes the court for home matches beginning at 3:00 p.m. Come out and cheer on our Scots!
2) Then it’s on to a busy Saturday, September 26th. Saturday Academy is happening across the District. Don’t forget, RSVPs are due by the end of today, Wednesday, September 23rd! Your RSVP helps our Nutrition Services team prepare enough food for students and gives our teachers time to plan all the activities and learning fun for the day.
We’re also especially excited for the RHS Marching Scots, who will step off in their first parade of the school year in Duarte! We’re so excited to cheer them on as they represent RHS and ROWUSD. Parade information is available for families who would like to attend and stay afterward for the street festival, featuring food vendors and more (see flyers below). Make it a fun day while supporting our Marching Scots!
Families can also attend the County’s Family & Community Engagement Summit on Saturday, offering resources, activities, and opportunities to connect.
From dancing & movies to tennis, Saturday Academy, marching music, and family resources, it's going to be a busy and fun-filled couple of days around the RIM!

Page: VOE Families: Movie Night is Back! Friday, September 25th, 2026. VOE families: our annual Movie Night features the movie: ’ Zootopia ’. Gates open at 6:30 pm; the movie starts at 7 pm. See you there, VOE families! Snacks will be sold during showtime: popcorn, candy, soda, & more. Please bring cash as wifi isn’t always available. Students MUST be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the event!

Page: Step Into Saturday, September 26th with the RHS Marching Scots! Strike up the Band! The RHS Marching Scots are stepping into their 1st parade of the season this Saturday, September 26, @ 10:00 a.m.! Get ready for music, marching, & plenty of Scots spirit as they proudly hit the parade route! RHS will be 4th in the parade lineup, so find your favorite viewing spot and show some Scots pride! 1620 E. Huntington Dr., Duarte, CA 91010. Parking will be available along surrounding side streets, so plan to arrive early. Be sure to check out the included parade map to help you find a prime viewing spot! And don’t rush home after the final float passes; stick around for the street festival on Central Avenue, featuring food vendors and more community fun. Bring your cheers, bring your Scots spirit! We hope to see you along the parade route!

The summit provides families, schools, and community partners with information and resources to support and guide all students with the academic and social-emotional tools needed for college and career readiness. Target Audience: Parents and guardians; district, charter, and school staff; administrators; community outreach staff; community members; and education partners. Attendee Information: Includes parking, continental breakfast, and lunch. Academic enrichment activities (ages 3-12), resource fair, breakout sessions, and interpretation.
